The Commodity Futures Trading Commission, or CFTC, is a federal regulatory agency that administers the Commodity Exchange Act. The federal oversight agency which monitors the futures and options on futures markets to detect and prevent price distortion and market manipulation and to protect the rights of customers who use the markets for either commercial or investment purposes.
